Alberta Tech Alliance Association 2019

Tetranex is proud to sponsor the Alberta Tech Alliance Association (ATAA) through their 2019 FIRST Robotics Competitions.  The ATAA is the not-for-profit organization that supports two community robotics teams – SWAT bots (#5015) and Alberta Tech Alliance (#4334). These teams work out of a build space located in Northland Mall and host a group of 54 students from grade 9 – 12 who are interested in growing their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) skills.  As community teams, students from across Calgary are welcome and the program is run by a team of 24 committed volunteers and even more parents.

This year the game is called Destination Deep Space, in celebration of the 50 year anniversary of the Apollo moon landing. Game reveal was January 5th and the students had to complete their robots by midnight February 19, 2019.

We were excited to have the opportunity to check out their Sponsorship Open House at their Northland Village Mall build space.  This permanent build space allows the teams to mock up key components of the playing field and extensively test their robots prior to the competitions.

Their competitions this season are as follows:

  • Victoria – Canadian Pacific Regional, March 6 – 9 (ATA #4334)
  • Calgary – Canadian Rockies Regional, April 3 – 6 (ATA #4334, SWATbots #5015)

Best of luck to both teams and we look forward to cheering you on from the stands at the Canadian Rockies Regional.
